History
In May 1899, what would later be known as Nyborg Strand, opened the doors for the first time. It was constructed by local enterprisers who found the beautiful surroundiings to be a perfect location for a hotel. In the first years of operation the hotel underwent a lot of turmoil and changing owners and tenants.
In 1913 the hotel was bought by "Nyborgmøderne" (the Nyborg Meeting) with the purpose of accomodating the many events organized by the Danish christian community. However the events got fewer and fewer and therefore began running as a more "regular" hotel over time. The "Nyborgmødet" are still hold once a year at the hotel.
During The Second World War Danish soldiers were stationed at the hotel, and in August 1943 the German Army attacked an took over the hotel. 3 years later the hotel board was once again given disposal over the property but the hotel was quite severely damaged.
Thanks to the resolute hotel board and their connections to different wealthy business people, who provided financial help, the hotel was able to once again open its doors in May 1948 - as a beautiful and modern hotel.
The Hotel has expanded several times over the years - not least in April 1998 were a new state of the art auditorium seating 200 people were inaugurated. By 2002 no less than 39 new luxury rooms were ready for use and in Marts 2006 they were supplemented by an additional 16 luxury rooms.
In Marts 2007 a new and modern meeting facility at an impressive 2775 m2 was inaugurated. The hotel is continually renovated and today stands as one of the leading and modern meeting and conference hotels in Denmark - serving all businesses, national and international.
Medio 2010 the latest addition to the hotel saw the light - 56 completely new and modern rooms in a seperate building, bringing the total room count to 350 with a total of 700 beds thus making us the largest hotel in the region. Additionally in 2010, we completed the expansion of our exhibition area and community area in the "Vandrehallen" as well as expanding our conference facilities with 2 lovely rooms - so as to ensure that the innovation and history of Nyborg Strand continues in the future.
Today BEST WESTERN Nyborg Strand is a privatly owned company, with all shares are owned by the Nyborg Strand Foundation.
