Our ESG initiatives
At Nyborg Strand, ESG is an integral part of how we operate and develop our hotel. It involves taking responsibility for our use of resources, for the people who work at and visit Nyborg Strand, and for the community of which we are part of.
Our environmental work includes energy and water consumption, waste sorting, food waste, material choices and procurement. We monitor our consumption and results and continuously implement specific measures, from intelligent lighting and recycling to new serving concepts and collaboration with our suppliers.
For us, however, ESG is about more than the environment and natural resources. It is also about creating a workplace that embraces diversity, supports development and allows for a balanced working life. In addition, it means contributing to the communities around us. Among other initiatives, we work with Kirkens Korshær, a Danish social welfare organisation, to provide summer camps for families with children in vulnerable circumstances and free coffee at the organisation’s social cafés and drop-in centres across Funen. We also support a range of other social and local initiatives.
At the same time, we work with clearly defined values, objectives and guidelines designed to support integrity and considered decision-making in our daily operations. This applies both internally and in our collaboration with suppliers and other partners.
On this page, you can learn more about our specific initiatives relating to the environment, people and responsible business practices.
When you dine with us, you experience the taste of Nyborg Strand on your plate. We utilize local ingredients prepared with respect for the region's traditions. Our menu changes with the seasons and often includes organic options. We take pride in our bronze organic dining label and strive to minimize food waste by repurposing leftovers.
We take advantage of nature's gifts around us, including ingredients from Holckenhavn Forest and herbs from the hotel's utility gardens. Our ingredients are sourced as locally as possible, and our dishes are prepared with the utmost respect for the region and its traditions. Our love for the ingredients begins long before they reach our cutting board.
We collaborate with local producers like Rosilde Højgaard for fresh vegetables and Grambogård for veal and beef welfare meat. Through "Spis Min Gris" we ensure animal welfare for our pork dishes, and our fish comes from the waters of the Great Belt. For us, sourcing locally is a privilege, not a barrier.
