History

In 1899 a new seaside Hotel opened in the town Nyborg on the island Funen. Today, the hotel is known as Nyborg Strand and known to many as “The Place to Meet in Denmark”.
The hotel was designed by architect Schwanenflügel, and build by three entrepreneurial businessmen, who thought the location was just right. The first few years the hotel experienced shifting owners and managers.

The year 1913, the Danish Congregation bought the hotel to host the Nyborg Meetings. The hotel was famous for its many Christian meetings and people came from all over the country to reflect on life and have a cultural gathering.
Over the years, the number of Christian meetings have been reduced and left room for more commercial use, such as events, conferences, meetings and overnight guests. We are proud to say that the Nyborg meetings still today are one of our many offers.

During World War II, the hotel accommodated Danish soldiers up to August 1943, where the German occupied Denmark and German soldiers took over the hotel.

It took a full 3 years before the board finally regain the rights to the hotel. The hotel was left in a very poor condition and the grand meeting hall was burned to the ground. The board immediately started the reconstruction of the hotel.
Thanks to a resolute and well-connected board, as well as a group of wealthy local businessmen, the hotel reopened in May 1948, as the beautiful and modernized hotel we know today.

The hotel has expanded several times over the years, among others in 1998 when a large auditorium for 200 people, was inaugurated. In 2002 there was added 39 rooms to the hotel and another 16 rooms in 2006.

In March 2007, a new meeting area of 2775m2 with a beautiful main entrance was inaugurated. The hotel is continuously renovated and today appears as one of the country’s modern conference hotels with customers from all businesses, associations and organizations both nationally and internationally.

Mid 2010 a separate wing with 56 rooms was added and Nyborg Strand reached 350 rooms with 700 beds making it one of the province’s largest hotel. We also completed in 2010
